Introducing the Yokogawa DLM3000HD Series: Advancing Precision in High-Performance Oscilloscopes

Yokogawa Test & Measurement Corporation has announced the release of the DLM3000HD series, a new line of compact, high-definition oscilloscopes. Positioned as a high-performance upgrade to the DLM3000 series, the DLM3000HD models offer frequency bandwidths of 500 MHz and 350 MHz, delivering higher resolution for more accurate waveform analysis and user-friendly features for improved setup and usability.

Development Background
Since the launch of the DLM2000 series in 2008 and its successor, the DLM3000 series, in 2018, Yokogawa oscilloscopes have been widely adopted by developers of electronic and mechatronic devices. Recently, the growing emphasis on decarbonization has increased the demand for energy-efficient motors and inverters, particularly in the transportation and clean energy sectors, such as solar power. The power electronics industry is especially focused on improving the precision of measurements, driven by the adoption of next-generation power devices utilizing silicon-carbide (SiC) technology. The DLM3000HD series addresses these needs with multi-channel measurement capabilities and enhanced vertical axis resolution.

Key Features of the DLM3000HD Series
The series comprises two models: the 500 MHz DLM3054HD and the 350 MHz DLM3034HD.

  1. 16x Higher Vertical Resolution
With 12-bit vertical resolution—16 times higher than the DLM3000 series—the DLM3000HD allows for significantly more accurate waveform observations. This feature benefits developers of next-generation inverters by enabling the detection of subtle changes in high-speed signals, such as switching events, and identifying anomalies like waveform overshoot and ringing.
  2. Enhanced Serial Bus Analysis Auto-Setup
The DLM3000HD introduces an enhanced auto-setup function for serial bus analysis, which now also works with previously captured waveforms. This capability optimizes bit rate and threshold levels automatically, even for low-frequency signals, improving efficiency in the development and evaluation of in-vehicle bus systems.
  3. Improved Analysis Efficiency
The DLM3000HD can store up to 1 billion data points—double that of the DLM3000 series—allowing for the storage of up to 200,000 history waveforms. This enhances the ability to search and compare waveforms using long memory and supports high-sampling-rate measurements for tasks like analyzing braking systems. Furthermore, the DLMsync function allows for dual-unit synchronization, enabling up to 8 analog channels to be measured simultaneously.
