Yokogawa Unveils AQ7290 Series Optical Time Domain Reflectometer

Yokogawa Test & Measurement Corporation has introduced the AQ7290 Series Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), designed to enhance the installation and maintenance of optical communication networks. With six models offering two or three wavelength configurations, the series delivers improved reliability, usability, and accuracy.

As the flagship model in Yokogawa’s OTDR lineup, the AQ7290 Series prioritizes ease of use. It features a multi-touch screen, an updated graphical user interface, and a simplified OTDR mode for one-button measurements. A USB Type-C power option allows operation via mobile battery, ensuring field technicians can respond to service calls efficiently.

Performance enhancements include an increased dynamic range—up to 2 dB higher than its predecessor—allowing for longer-distance measurements. The high-reflection real-time measurement mode improves waveform clarity, making it easier to assess long-distance routes and complex network structures.

The AQ7290 also supports remote operation via wireless LAN adapters and LTE USB dongles, enabling technicians to manage tests from offsite locations.
