Magtrol offers three types of Dynamometers, each with a different braking system to absorb load: Hysteresis, Eddy-current and Powder. Magtrolā€™s dynamometers, electronics and software are used for testing all types of electric and pneumatic motors, gas engines and gearheads, as well as servo drives and inverters.

With over 50 dynamometers to choose from, and the availability of Customized Motor Test Systems (CMTS), virtually every motor testing requirement can be met.

    CTS Cogging Test System

    Magtrolā€™s Cogging Test System is a stand-alone test system designed to control and measure Detent Torque, Cogging Torque and Friction Torque. The test System includes a precision geared motor, a TS Series Torque Sensor integrating a 5 000 pulses encoder. CTS 100 to CTS 102 have a built-in security clutches to avoid system overload by mishandling when not in use. The geared motor drives the MUT (Motor Under Test) at a low speed from 1 to 10 rpm (respectively 8 rpm for CTS 103 and CTS 104), while acquiring its cogging torque related to angle position. The torque measurement covers a range up to 1 Nāˆ™m (depending on the selected torque sensor) with an accuracy of Ā± 0.1 mNāˆ™m (for TS 100 ā€“ 50 mNāˆ™m and TS 101 ā€“ 100 mNāˆ™m).

    Motor Testing Software

    Magtrolā€™s M-TEST 7 is a state-of-the-art motor testing program for data acquisition. Used with a Magtrol Programmable Dynamometer Controller, M-TEST 7 works with any Magtrol Dynamometer or In-Line Torque Transducer to help determine the performance characteristics of a motor under test. Up to 63 parameters are calculated and displayed utilizing M-TEST 7ā€™s feature-rich testing and graphing capabilities. Written in LabVIEWā„¢, M-TEST 7 has the flexibility to test a variety of motors in a multitude of configurations. Magtrol can also make custom modifications to the software to meet additional motor testing requirements.

    Controllers

    Magtrolā€™s Model DSP7000 High-Speed Programmable. Dynamometer Controller employs state-of-the-art Digital Signal Processing Technology to provide superior motor testing capabilities. Designed for use with any Magtrol Hysteresis, Eddy-Current or Powder Brake Dynamometer, Magtrol In-Line Torque Transducer or auxiliary instrumentation, the DSP7000 can provide complete PC control via IEEE-488 or RS-232 interface. With up to 500 readings per second, the DSP7000 is ideally suited for both the test lab and the production line.

    Power Supplies and Conditioners

    DES Series Power Supplies are specially designed for the full range of Magtrolā€™s Eddy-current and Powder brake dynamometers with the design goal providing the best response time.

    The Model 5241 is a voltage-controlled power amplifier designed exclusively for Magtrolā€™s Model HD-825 Hysteresis Dynamometer.

    The TSC Series is the Torque and Speed Conditioner used to connect Magtrol Eddy-Current (WB) or Powder (PB) Dynamometers to the DSP7000 Dynamometer Controller.

    Power Analyzers

    The Magtrol 7500 Series Power Analyzer is an easy-to-use instrument ideal for numerous power measurement applications. From DC to 80 kHz AC, the 7500 measures volts, amps, watts, volt-amps, frequency, crest factor, Vpeak, Apeak and power factor in one convenient display. They may be used either as stand-alone instruments or in conjunction with any Magtrol Hysteresis, Eddy-Current or Powder Brake Dynamometer; any Magtrol Dynamometer Controller and M-TEST Software for more demanding motor test applications.

    Custom Motor Test Systems

    Magtrolā€™s Customized Motor Test Systems (CMTS) are PC-based, turnkey systems custom designed and built to meet your specific motor testing requirements. By integrating Magtrolā€™s motor test equipment with power supplies, adaptable fixtures, custom tables/cabinets, printers, etc., Magtrolā€™s engineering team can design and build a system that precisely suits the customerā€™s needs.
